My practice currently centres around an evolving body of work titled Water Response Atlas — an experimental sensory/environmental art practice exploring water as both material and witness.
I’ve become increasingly interested in the idea that water is not simply something we look at, but something we listen to. A living surface carrying memory, atmosphere, residue, movement, chemistry, emotion, contamination, history and time.
The work combines field observation, environmental sampling, translucency, reverse image processes, sound, experimental bioplastics, installation, light, and participatory experiences. I often think of the practice less as “making artworks” and more as building systems for noticing.
Recently, the project has begun evolving into what I’m calling the Water Listening Lab — a mobile sensory field practice that moves between waterways, public interaction, environmental observation, storytelling and immersive exhibition formats.
Following Aqua Limina and my residency within the City of Gold Coast Creative Spaces program, I’m now developing future immersive exhibition residencies, audience-contributed environmental works, workshops, artist talks, and long-form participatory projects exploring how people physically and emotionally connect to place.
Why are you a member of CreativeS Inc.?
Because I believe creative communities matter deeply. Not simply for career development, but because artists help shape emotional, cultural and ecological conversations in ways data alone cannot. Spaces that allow experimentation, interdisciplinary thinking, vulnerability and collaboration are incredibly important to me.
Current and upcoming projects include:
• The continuing development of Water Response Atlas
• The expansion of the Water Listening Lab concept
• A proposed immersive solo exhibition residency with Hand Bent Banana Art, Nature & Health Centre
• Participatory works involving audience-contributed water and sediment collections
• New sensory installations exploring translucency, environmental memory, sound and human observation systems
